"RASPBERRY HEADGEAR"
A curious little picture I found in a school notebook, full of old photographs of my aunt (my father's sister) Marthe Nicolette Hesselink (1909-1983).
We called her aunt Cokkie, no idea why. It depicts a scene she photographed while on vacation in Lichtenau, Germany in August 1927:
Four women with buckets on their heads. The byline reads: "girls with buckets full of raspberries on their heads".
Looks like a good berry harvest in 1927! Are they returning home with their pickings in the country?
Are they on their way to the market with the produce for sale? We'll never know...
