Net gepost op flickr.com met de titel "Museum the Alvazaal: the guide 9" en het volgende bijschrift:

Two more illustrations from the old museum guide. On the left the corridor leading to the museum, already filled with Spanish artifacts.

On the right an interesting picture, named 'view of the Jerez grape hills'. Jerez is of course the city of Jerez de la Frontera, the centre of the sherry producing area, between Sevilla and Gibraltar in the south of Spain. Sherry (or xeres) was one of the main kinds of wine Hesselink Hermanos imported. They also established a branch of the business there.

In the picture we see Jerez depicted in the distance with a 'finca' in the foreground. Workers milling about, two oxen drawn carts full of freshly picked grapes (it's harvest time!), a man with a mule, also carrying baskets of grapes. All around them the neat fields of grapevines.

Interesting to see that the barn on the extreme right carries the name 'Compania Ho', the rest of the word is not depicted. It probably is 'Compania Holandesa', which is how the Hesselink Brothers firm was known in Spain. So we actually see their own fields and buildings!

Wonder what this area looks like these days!
