Net gepost op flickr.com met als titel 'Alvazaal, private museum' en het volgende bijschrift: A view of the private museum that my great-grandfather and his brother (partners in the wine importfirm 'Hermanos Hesselink') opened in their centuries old building on Arnhems most important market square. (today the space is occupied by the offices of the Provincial authority) They imported most of their wine from Spain and Portugal and their museum (fuller than full, as you can see) held all of the curiosities they acquired during their business trips there. It was called the 'Alvazaal', named after the duke of Alva who during the Dutch war for independence from Spain (1568-1648) played an infamous role as the Spanish king's representative in the Netherlands.
