Another shot from our 1962 summer vacation, which we spent in a little farm cottage in Vrouwenpolder, Zeeland.
As usual my father built a driftwood shelter with us on a secluded part of the beach,
which served as our base for weeks and provided the often needed shade.
For once it was he himself who took the picture so we see our mother having lunch with us
in her holiday outfit.Standing on the left my older brother, me playing the fool
and the twins on the right. Also present our much needed beach tools to dig and build and fish for shrimp.
To build such a shelter and keep it for weeks to yourself would be unthinkable these days... |
